11. Camp Norland Clean up Week & Summer Volunteer Opportunities - May 7 - 12, 2007
Many of our local Churches go on Saturday May 12, to clean and to do maintenance on there Cabin. I have been asked to organize a group of people to clean the inside of the Conference Centre on that Saturday. If you can find a couple of extra hands to come that Saturday it will be greatly appreciated.
There are also some jobs that can be done sitting, if you have folks that would like to come but don’t get around to well I have something just for them.
All of the conference rooms on the third level are to be finished by May 12 so they will need to vacuumed and dusted. (Game room, Large Conference Room, Chapel, Craft Room) there is also a laundry facility room, Washrooms with Shower’s, there may be others rooms but I think I got them all.
The bedrooms have all been painted. The windows, exhaust fans, lights, mattresses, dressers all need to be cleaned. Where there are many hands, it will make light and speedy work.
If you have young people in your Churches that can come and give a hand, bring them along. A lot of work has been going on since last fall, all of the trees that were damaged in the storms last year and trees that were dead have been cut down. The young people will be needed to collect the branches and bring them to a centra location. We will have the use of a log chipper available for the weekend so all the branches can be chipped up. The chipped wood would then be put on the trails to the cabins and to the lake. (No more mud on our shoes YES!!)
I ask that you would encourage the folks in your Churches to come and see the changes that have taken place at Camp Norland Christian Ministries. If some have not been there in the past couple of years they will be truly surprised to see all the improvements.
The Lord has blessed us with funds for finishing the conference rooms, renovating the Old Lodge and many, many more exciting things. We now need the hands to do the work, and volunteers to keep it up. I ask all of you to PRAY that we will have a fantastic turn out so that all of the work will be completed.
OH!! Lunch will be provided . If anyone wishes to go during the week contact Rod at 705-566-5078.
Weather permitting: floating dock put in the water; water slide to be built;

1. Conservative MP's Bill Would Eliminate “Artistic Merit” Defence for Child Porn
MP links proliferation of adult pornography to rise and spread of child porn
By Hilary White
OTTAWA, April 25, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – As long as it can be judged to have “artistic or educational” merit, anyone in Canada can create child pornography, according to a 2004 Supreme Court of Canada decision. Conservative Pierre Lemieux, MP for Glengarry–Prescott–Russell, has tabled Private Member’s Bill C-430 this week that would amend the Criminal Code to make it impossible to use such grounds as a defence.
Lemieux, a father of five, said, “I have always promoted and defended families and children. It is important to close loopholes in our Criminal Code, loopholes that are exploited by people who are dangerous to our children.”
In Canada, child pornography is illegal and defined as material that shows someone who is or is depicted as being under 18, and is engaged or depicted as engaged in explicit sexual activity. The penalty for making or distributing child pornography is up to 10 years in prison. Possession or "accessing" carries a potential sentence of up to 5 years. The loophole, however, is one that allows for the creation of works that fit the above definition, but have “artistic merit”, or an educational, scientific or medical purpose.
Lemieux linked the proliferation of adult pornography to the rise and spread of child porn. He said in the House, “Regrettably there has been a proliferation of pornography within our society over the past decades. More regrettable has been the proliferation of child pornography.”
“Child pornography is real,” he said, “it exists, and its presence in our society has been growing. It is truly a threat to our children and we as a society have tasted its bitter fruit.”
Legislation passed in 2005 under the former Liberal government was created following the notorious case of a British Columbia man, John Robin Sharpe, whose written work was judged by the courts to have “artistic merit” and therefore to be protected free speech. Sharpe was later convicted of a charge of indecent assault from sex acts he committed against a 14 year-old boy in the 1970’s.
The Supreme Court ruling on Sharpe said, “Simply put, artists, so long as they are producing art, should not fear prosecution.” The Court also "read in" exceptions for personal writings and visual depictions intended for private use, including diaries, self-photography and drawings.
Lemieux’s bill would remove the words “education” and “art” from the Criminal Code section stating
“No person shall be convicted of an offence under this section if the act as alleged to constitute the offence (a) has a legitimate purpose related to the administration of justice or to science, medicine, education or art;....”

Words of Wisdom
1. Scriptural Blessings to Pray for Your Children
(by Brian Smith, Pray Magazine) 1-800-366-7788
Assurance of Salvation:
Lord, lead my children to trust only in Jesus’ sacrifice for their eternal salvation; assure them that their souls are secure in Your hands. (Jn 3:16, 10:28-29; John 5:13)
Intimacy with God:
Draw my children face to face with You, that they may taste Your Goodness and long for more of You. (Ex 33:11; Ps. 27:8)
Spiritual Blessings:
Father, remind my children that You have adopted them in love. Enable them to experience all the spiritual blessings they have in Christ Jesus, especially Your measureless love. May they act, speak and think in ways fitting for a child of God. (Eph 1:13-14; 3:17-19, 5:8-10)
Confidence in prayer:
Assure my children that You hear their prayers and that You always answer as a caring Father, even when they do not receive what they want. ((1John 5:14-15, Mt 7:7-11)
Repentance:
When my children sin, quickly lead them to confess and repent so that they might enjoy a clear conscience and unbroken fellowship with you (Ps 32:1-2; I john 1:5-9)
Sanctification:
Transform my children into Christ’s likeness. Use whatever circumstances, You in Your perfect wisdom, deem necessary to produce a harvest of righteousness and peace in their lives
(2cor 3:18; Jas 1:2-4; Heb. 12:5-11)
Hope and Rest:
Bathe my children in restful, confident hope as they trust You with their self-worth relationships, life’s work, and _______(other concerns). May they overflow with Your peace.
(Jer 29:11, Mt 11:28, Rom 15:13, Phil 4:6-7)
Comfort:
Through every hardship, may Your Spirit bring tangible consolation to my children so that they will know that they are not alone. Right now, they need Your comfort to get through _______ (pray for specific trials and losses).
Freedom:
Guide my children into truth that they will enjoy genuine freedom.
Friendships:
Provide my children with friends who are supportive and truthful. Keep them from relationships that would draw them away from you. (Ecc 4:9-12; Prov 27: 5-6, 1Cor 15:33)
Effective parents:
Help me and my spouse to be the influence my children need at every stage of their growth. Keep me willing to listen to anything they want to discuss. (Prov 20:7; Eph 6:4)
Marriage and children:
If it is Your will that my children marry and have children, guide them to godly spouse with whom they will enjoy flourishing relationships. May they pass along a rich heritage to future generations. May those who remain single experience the joy of living in undivided devotion to You. (Ps 127:3-5; 128:1-4; 1 Cor 7:32-35)
A Healthy Church:
Provide my children with a unified, prayerful, Bible-teaching church family that will draw them into community, give them a hunger for Your Word, and involve in Your work; bless them with spiritual leaders who are trustworthy and humble. (Acts 2:42; 4:32-35’ Eph 4:15-16; 1Tim 3:1-13)
Holy Spirit:
Fill my children with Your Holy Spirit. Show them how to exercise their spiritual gifts, and enable them to hear the fruit of Your Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Eph 5:18; 1Cor 12:4-28; Gal 5:22-23)

Provision:
Supply my children’s earthly needs. At the moment they need ___. (Mt. 6:11, 25-33, Phil 4:19)
Eternity:
· Remind my children of the eternal rewards You promise. Let this perspective motivate them to lay up treasure in heaven. May they seek first Your Kingdom and righteousness by living with integrity and investing generously in the lives of people. (1Cor 3:12-14, 2Cor 5:1-10; Jn 14:2-3; Mt. 6:9)
The unimaginable:
Gracious Father, shower my children with blessings that exceed my dreams. May Your love flow abundantly into their lives. (Eph 3:17-20)
2. The Duck & the Devil
There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was
given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the
woods; but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged,
he headed back for dinner.
As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse,
he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed
it.
He was shocked and grieved! In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the
wood pile; only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she
said nothing.
After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes."
But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the
kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny
did the dishes.
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and
Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally
just smiled and said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he
wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally
went
fishing and Johnny stayed to help.
After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's; he
finally couldn't stand it any longer.
He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma
knelt down, gave him a hug and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I
was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love
you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally
make a slave of you."
Thought for the day and every day thereafter? Whatever is in your
past, whatever you have done... and the devil keeps throwing it up in your
face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger,
bitterness, etc.)...whatever it is...You need to know that God was
standing at the window and He saw the whole thing. He has seen your
whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are
forgiven.
He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of
you.
The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness; He not
only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by God's grace and mercy that
we are saved.
3. April 26 - Press on in Patience
"...be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises."
(Hebrews 6:12)
You've been walking by faith. You've been believing God to meet your need. But what do you do when the results seem slow in coming and you are tempted to give up?
Be patient! There is not much said about patience these days. But, when it comes to receiving from God, it is just as important as faith.
It will make the difference between success and failure for you.
Patience undergirds and sustains faith until the result is manifested. After you have meditated on the promises of God and have them in your spirit, patience will encourage you to hold steady. Patience is power. It has the courage to refuse the lie of Satan that says the Word is not working for you. It knows that God's Word has never failed. Patience will not draw back in fear but will press forward in faith until you have the answer.
When the results of your faith seem slow in coming, don't give up! Continue to put the Word first, with patience, and you will surely receive the promise of God!

4. God has a sense of Humor
LIFE AFTER DEATH:
"DO YOU BELIEVE IN LIFE AFTER DEATH?" THE BOSS ASKED ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES.
"YES, OF COURSE SIR," THE NEW EMPLOYEE REPLIED.
"WELL, THEN, THAT MAKES EVERYTHING JUST FINE," THE BOSS WENT ON. "AFTER YOU
LEFT EARLY YESTERDAY TO GO TO YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S FUNERAL,SHE STOPPED IN TO
SEE YOU! "
PALM SUNDAY:
IT WAS PALM SUNDAY AND, BECAUSE OF A SORE THROAT, FIVE-YEAR-OLD JOHNNY
STAYED HOME FROM CHURCH WITH A SITTER. WHEN THE FAMILY RETURNED HOME, THEY
WERE CARRYING SEVERAL PALM BRANCHES. THE BOY ASKED WHAT THEY WERE FOR.
"PEOPLE HELD THEM OVER JESUS' HEAD AS HE WALKED BY."
"WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT," THE BOY FUMED, "THE ONE SUNDAY I DON'T GO, HE SHOWS
UP!"
PRAYERS:
THE SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER ASKED, "NOW, JOHNNY, TELL ME, DO YOU SAY PRAYERS
BEFORE EATING?" "NO SIR," HE REPLIED, "WE DON'T HAVE TO, MY MOM IS A GOOD
COOK!"
CLIMB THE WALLS:
"OH, GRANDMA, I SURE AM HAPPY TO SEE YOU," THE LITTLE BOY SAID TO HIS
GRANDMOTHER ON HIS MOTHER'S SIDE. "NOW MAYBE DADDY WILL DO THAT TRICK HE
HAS BEEN PROMISING US"
THE GRANDMOTHER WAS CURIOUS. "WHAT TRICK IS THAT?" SHE ASKED.
"I HEARD HIM TELL MOMMY THAT HE WOULD CLIMB THE WALLS IF YOU CAME TO VISIT"
THE LITTLE BOY ANSWERED.
