2.  Prayer for Haiti

Lord, I just want to say THANK YOU, because this morning  I woke up and
knew where my children - my Family were.

Because this morning my home was still standing, because this morning  I am not crying,
because my husband, my child, my brother or sister needs to be buried out from underneath a pile of concrete, because this morning I was able to drink a glass of water, because this morning I was able to turn on the light, because this morning I was able to take a shower, because this morning I was not planning a funeral,

Most of all I thank you this morning, because I still have life and a voice to cry out for the people of Haiti.
Lord I cry out to you, the ONE that makes the impossible, possible, the ONE that turns darkness into light,
I cry out that YOU give those mothers strength, that YOU give them peace that surpasses all understanding,
that  YOU may open the streets so that help can come - that YOU may provide doctors, nurses, food, water, and all that they need in a blink of an eye.

For all those that have lost family members, give them peace - give them hope - give them courage to continue to go on!

Protect the children and shield them with YOUR Power.

I pray all this in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of the Living God - Amen!!!

We are truly blessed here!!! And mustn't selfishly keep these blessings to ourselves-meant to be shared...

To all my friends, please continue to forward this, so that we can ALL pray together for the people in Haiti.
They'll know we're with them with our Prayers, through the Holy Spirit that makes it ALL possible...

Thank-you very-much for praying along with me

''Whatever you do for the least of your Brothers - Sisters, you're doing it to me''

''... You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.  Amen.
                                                                                                                                                                                ( Hebrews 10:35-36 )

Praise Reports
1.  Praise to the Sudbury Ministerial for the launch to Christian Unity Week

A wonderful Spirit of fellowship pervaded Grace Family Church on Friday, January 22nd as members of the Sudbury Ministerial Association and attendees launched Christian Unity Week celebrations in Greater Sudbury.

Theme for the evening was Luke 24, the Road to Emmaus.  Rev. John Harvey of St. James Anglican Church showed us how this passage relates to Christian unity, and that we are all on a common journey.   “Yes, we will have different views of the Messiah, but we’re all on a common journey.”

Other elements of the inspiring program were led by Christ-filled clergy and leaders from different Christian denominations and the Shekinah Worship Team from Grace Family Church.

Rev. Harvey compared the different points of view about Christian theology to the blind men describing an elephant ….as each blind person touches and describes a specific part of the elephant, one does not get a complete sense of the entire animal.    Although “all are correct, none has 20/20 vision.   All are right and all wrong at the same time.”     Only arrogance and pride can permit us to think otherwise.  “No one has it all…Jesus is ultimately indescribable…All of us seek the truth….If we say our tradition has all the answers, then we are blind.”

The Apostle Paul said, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”  (King James Bible)       Rev. Harvey commented, “If Paul can say he doesn’t know it all, then we can safely say that.”

Rev. Harvey went on to talk about the special strengths that different Christian denominations have.     We need to learn from each other.

Then he commented to the sixty people gathered for the service that he is disappointed the Sudbury Ministerial Association hasn’t “gained more momentum”.     In his view, “we can’t be one with God unless we are one with our communities.”      John Harvey challenged and encouraged us to “put aside the doctrine/tradition we love so dearly and seek to learn from others.”

3.  Sault to start Local Family Action group

Friends,

In December we had a meeting at the Moose Family Centre of people who are willing to act locally on behalf of pro-family issues. e agreed we wanted to meet again and consider how we might move forward.

The next meeting is set for:
5:30 pm on Wednesday January 20th
It will be at the Moose Family Centre on 543 Trunk Road - same as last time.

It will not be a dinner meeting like last time.  However, we suggest people bring small dessert snacks. Coffee will be provided to go along with it. Don't feel obliged though. Just come.

Each of us is encouraged to invite 2 or 3 more people to come. That would be an exciting group to move forward.

The floor will be open for discussion about what we can do. Come with ideas. At the very least we plan to develop a network of like-minded people in this area.

Feel free to pass this email around.

See you there.

4.  Vigil Mass for Life: 45 Bishops, 350 Priests, 65 Deacons, 550 Seminarians

By John-Henry Westen

WASHINGTON, DC, January 22, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Arriving over an hour early for the 6:30pm Vigil Mass for the March for Life yesterday, not only was every seat in the massive Basilica of the National Shrine occupied, but so was every good standing area.  Brian McFee, his wife Molly and their children Lucas and Dominic were in the front row of seats open to the public – but to gain this distinction they had to arrive at 1pm to stake out their spot.

The Mass, which precedes the annual March for Life, is a joyous celebration of faith and commitment to life, and a stunning spectacle.  Five Cardinals accompanying 40 other bishops and archbishops concelebrated the Mass with 350 priests.  Also in the sanctuary were 65 deacons and a whopping 550 seminarians and 60 servers.

Hundreds of men and women religious also took part, with the steps leading up the to the sanctuary taken up by a large contingent of the Sisters of Life. Well over 8,000 faithful jammed every nook and cranny of the spacious Basilica both in the main church and the crypt below.

The Mass was open to millions more as well, as the event was broadcast via EWTN into countless homes.
During the 35-minute long opening procession the faithful looked on with awe as over 1000 men of the Church professed by their presence their commitment to the cause of life.  The Mass was celebrated by Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston and Chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities.

As they processed out of the church a little baby was held aloft to the cheers of hundreds, and was blessed by Cardinal DiNardo.

Sudbury, let's demonstrate a heart for minors trapped in sex and labour trafficking in our OWN COUNTRY!!

10.  CONNECTING WITH "DIFFICULT" PEOPLE   Toronto    Feb. 23

The Centre for Spirituality at Work invites you to this workshop

with Bhupinder Gill, M.Sc., R.N.

Tuesday Feb 23, 2010
7:30 – 9:30 pm
At the Toronto Grace, near Yonge & Bloor, Toronto

Earlybird fee: Tues Feb 16, 2010

This evening, be introduced to a technique to help you connect in person or by telephone with people whom you perceive to be “difficult.”  These people may be your co-workers or clients, neighbours or family members.  You will learn how move to a place of compassion for people when you come to realize that everything that anyone does or says is to meet a specific need they have, and not just because they want to give you a “hard time”.  This technique is based on Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s life’s work developing non-violent communication (NVC), also known as compassionate communication (www.cnvc.org).

BHUPINDER GILL, M.Sc., R.N. works in the early psychosis unit at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).  She has been studying NVC for more than 5 years and is a trainer candidate for certification in non-violent communication.  Bo has taught non-violent communication within various organizations and is a practitioner in both her professional and personal life. She was attracted to NVC because of its spiritual perspective and has been practising santmat meditation for over 20 years (www.knowthyselfassoul.com ). Contact Bo at bhupindergll@yahoo.com.

REGISTRATION: Program fee of $30 received by Tues Feb 16 or $40 following.  For cancellations, you may substitute another person for no additional fee. To register, mail a cheque payable to: Centre for Spirituality at Work, Box 100, 236 Guildwood Parkway, Toronto M1E 1P7. Or register and pay for this program securely and confidentially by credit card through PayPal at www.SpiritualityAtWork.org. If times are a little tough financially right now and you’d like to attend, please mail a cheque before the earlybird date for whatever you can manage and pre-register confidentially through sherry@spiritualityatwork.org.

LOCATION: In the 2nd floor chapel of our partner, the Toronto Grace Hospital workplace, 650 Church St. at the S/W corner of Bloor St.  Just a few minutes walk from the Yonge-Bloor TTC station.  Metered parking is on Church and Hayden Streets, and a paid lot at the Grace.  Use the main northwest entrance.  www.TorontoGrace.org

1.  Rule by Judicial Fiat

Vancouver Drug Injection Site

The liberal-minded B.C. Court of Appeal, in order to maintain the operation of the Vancouver Drug Injection site, has had to forsake common sense by describing the site as a “hospital” which provides a “health care program”.  Supervising the injection of a harmful illicit drug by an addict is by no reasonable standard, “health care”.  It is a recipe for disaster since its effect is to deepen the addict’s addiction, which leads to his/her inevitable, painful death.

According to the report of the Expert Advisory Committee released in April 2008, only 5% of drug addicts in the Vancouver area actually use the site, with 95% of drug injections in the area taking place outside the site.  Only 3% of addicts using this site are actually referred for treatment.  Treatment is the only way in which the addict can be genuinely helped.

In addition, the addict has to obtain the drugs injected on site from illegal sources, costing approximately $350,000 annually – money invariably obtained from criminal activity.  Do these politically correct judges grasp these implications?

This decision by the B.C. Court has arbitrarily relaxed Canada’s drug laws by intruding on federal criminal law jurisdiction – the purpose of which is to protect society and individual addicts, not destroy them.

Canadians deserve better than the opinion of these liberal judges who choose to rule by judicial fiat, rather than by common sense and respect for Parliament.

2.  Putting Christianity Back into Canada’s Public Square

January 23, 2010

On Thursday, Jan. 21st, I had the opportunity to speak at a local ecumenical service organized by the Catholic, United and Anglican congregations in our small community; not my typical audience. It was a service organized in the context of the International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, and the Catholic priest, Fr. Tim, who is outspokenly pro-life, had kindly asked me to speak on the topic of Christianity in the public square (not a subject usually associated with unity!?). He has read my book, "State vs. Church: What Christians Can Do to Save Canada from Liberal Tyranny." Below is my prepared text for that message. (I stuck quite closely to my text.)
Tim Bloedow
Director, ECP Centre
Putting Christianity Back into Canada’s Public Square
(Service for Christian Unity at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Russell, Ontario – January 21, 2010)
By Tim Bloedow

Thank you for the kind invitation to address you this evening at this service for Christian unity. Politics is an interesting topic to choose for a message in a service on Christian unity in view of how controversial politics can be as a subject of discussion. And no doubt there are a diversity of views on political subjects here this evening. But I hope my comments are faithful to the Scriptures and will be of some encouraging to you.

More recently, as I’ve been thinking about my comments for this evening, I was reading in the Epistles of John. Often the language of love exists hand-in-hand with discussions about unity, and for obvious reasons. But sometimes what seems obvious isn’t as obvious when we look a little closer.

Let me read from First John, chapter 3, verses 16-18: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”

And in chapter 4, verses 19-21, we read, “We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.”

As Christians, we appropriately stress this importance of love for others that we read about here and throughout Scripture, but as I just noted, sometimes what seems obvious isn’t as obvious when we look a little closer.

Also in I John we read, in chapter 4, verses 13-16, “We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.” So in the same letter by John, we learn that getting our relationship with God right – by loving Him on His terms – is the necessary foundation for rightly loving our brother. Many people in our day, even in the Church, miss that point.

And in chapter 2, verses 15-17, we learn that love does not embrace all things: “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”

What I’m getting at this evening is that there are many concepts of love floating around these days, and often we are guilty of taking our own concept of love, wherever it may have come from, and imposing it on Scripture and then saying, “see the Bible says we are to love, so that justifies my belief in this area.”

In Luke, chapter 1, verses 39-41, we read, “At that time Mary [the mother of Jesus] got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth [who was pregnant with John the Baptist]. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” In Psalm 139, verse 13, we read, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” We know from passages like this that the unborn child is human, therefore, Biblical commands to love others extend to these unborn children. And we know from a growing # of testimonies of women who have had abortions, that agreeing to help them end the life of their child was in fact not loving at all. In too many cases, it actually helps to cover up sexual abuse, maybe even incest. Our Christian love for women and unborn children should impact our view of law and public policy. In Canada, a healthy majority of people oppose a complete ban on abortion but, year after year, polling, including the results of an Angus Reid survey released just last Friday, shows that two-thirds to three-quarters of Canadians support some legislated restrictions such as banning taxpayer funding for most or all abortions. In other words, it would be democratic, not, quote-unquote, “theocratic” to legislate some Christian ethics in this area.

Polygamy is another issue where people on both sides are claiming the reality of love. At a conference I organized last year, a guest speaker, once part of a Mormon sect in the U.S., used to be a polygamist’s wife. She now devotes herself to exposing polygamy as inherently abusive and destructive for women and children. She loves and has deep empathy for those trapped as victims of polygamy and, as well as her work to help individual victims, she is also committed to making the case for keeping polygamy against the law in the U.S. and in Canada where we are facing a court case on this subject in the months ahead.

The Bible also teaches us that crimes are primarily offences against other people, not primarily offences against the state, which is how they are treated today. If we introduced that principle into our justice system, that would be completely transformative. Perhaps most obviously, it would require a massive shift from imprisonment to restitution as the punishment for a huge number of today’s crimes. And the restitution provisions would not be just token penalties; they would return real value for the value lost by the destructive behaviour.
Now, I want to comment briefly on a more broad-based point rather than particular issue-oriented matters, and that is the worldview conflicts that are at the root of today’s cultural upheavals. The conflicts are the battle between Christianity and alternately Humanism and Islam. The impact of Humanism is the more pressing concern for us still today, so with my limited time, I won’t touch on Islam tonight.

The reality is that Christians are facing a serious assault today in Canada and the rest of the Western world when it comes to exercising our religious freedom in the way we live our daily lives, in particular in how we interact with others, especially in the workplace and through the volunteer and charitable sectors.

A Massachusetts Democrat wants to ban Christians from being able to work in hospital Emergency Rooms.
Secular humanists in Canada want to ban Christians from being able to work as marriage commissioners.
Christians in England have had to go to court to defend their jobs as nurses and teachers.

Ontario’s Human Rights Tribunal would ban the social service agency, Christian Horizons, from doing social work Christianly.
Catholics are facing this kind of discrimination in Washington, D.C., with a charitable arm possibly closing because the government won’t allow them to operate if they maintain their position against homosexual adoption.

What we’re seeing is a very significant shift towards centralization or totalitarianism. This is both a religious and an ethical movement, as people typically understand those terms. It is religious because in Islam, they centralise all of life under the jurisdiction of the Mosque. In Humanism, all of life is centralized under the Messianic State. The state dictates how we raise our children and subsidizes certain choices but not others in an attempt to manipulate and control us. The state provides a whole gamut of social welfare programs. The state picks sides in science with its funding programs, essentially forcing science to become a religion that has to conform to certain ideological requirements. Scientists are no longer permitted simply to follow the evidence.  We also see a growing shift of power in federal states to the national government at the expense of provincial and local governments.

Furthermore, instead of accepting the received knowledge from tradition and God as to the definition of marriage, which is the way our law framed the question until recently, the state takes to itself the divine prerogative of defining reality, and redefines marriage to suit a non-Christian worldview. This is all about State-ism, Socialism: Eroding the influence in society of the Church, the family, private business interests, the voluntary sector, etc. It’s a comprehensive abandonment of a more Christian, humane and decentralised model for society which has been understood by some Reformed Christians by the language of sphere sovereignty, in Catholic and some Evangelical circles by the principle of Subsidiarity and a model promoted by the old British politician and philosopher Edmund Burke under the terminology of “Little Platoons.”

And along with all this political centralization is the requirement that more and more of society conform to a humanist ethical system, at the expense of religious liberty, freedom of conscience and freedom of speech. We see this in so-called “human rights” codes and decisions that ban criticism of politically favoured views. Stephen Boissoin in Alberta was ordered not to say anything critical about homosexuality; even from the pulpit; even in private communication. More recently an Alberta court threw out that Human Rights Tribunal decision. We see this censorship agenda in academia with university speech codes and universities banning pro-life protests or cutting funding to pro-life student groups. There’s also the refusal to give equal time in sex ed programs to the message of abstinence or chastity. And there’s the refusal to allow creation theory to be discussed at government schools whether alongside evolutionary theory or even in a separate context. There is very little tolerance for dissent.

Only Christianity can save us from this shift towards political centralism with the erosion of fundamental liberties that takes place with such a trend. But Christianity won’t save us if Christians are too timid to assert the merits of our religion and worldview for our culture and public policy. Regretfully, many Christians have bought into the non-Christian caricatures of our faith, and so are afraid of perceptions as much as anything else if they assert the importance of Christian ethics for a culture in which many people are not Christian. Often we have in mind the hot button issues, such as those I addressed earlier, that generate so much controversy in our society, rather than being able to look beyond such issues to the more comprehensive model of Christian ethics.

Someone whose work inspires me a great deal has said it this way: “Christianity’s failure to be a practical religion in the past 150 years or more has meant the success of a perverted and twisted secularism and an advancing militant Islam that are doing incalculable harm at home and abroad. Humanism and Islam have gained the upper hand by default. The rejection of any type of this-worldly application of the Bible has resulted in the proliferation of a man-centered worldview that has steadily drained the life out of our world and left behind a spiritual vacuum. Will the church of Jesus Christ be ready with biblical answers for the millions who will be ready to follow the light of the gospel of grace and all that it means for their lives this side of heaven as the worldviews of humanism and Islam continue to be exposed as ‘folly’?”

What are some examples of a Christian influence in our culture and public policy? The importance of genuine equality in Christian ethics, and how that and the ethic of personal responsibility can revitalize a “meritocracy” over against today’s entitlement mentality. Christianity’s hostility to lying and deception – the 9th Commandment – would strengthen our justice system with stronger penalties for so-called “white collar crime” and stronger enforcement against penalties for perjury. It would also reintroduce better enforcement of breach of contract. Consistent application of respect for contracts would see our abusive no-fault divorce regime replaced with a superior alternative. Enforcement of contracts would also have protected Christian Horizons from a “human rights” complaint from their former employee because the reason for her dismissal was breach of contract. She voluntarily signed a LifeStyle and Morality statement as a condition of employment, then later breached it by engaging in non-marital sex, in her case, lesbianism, and being quite public about it.

Christianity also respects other people’s consciences. Today’s humanists want to ban marriage commissioners from performing civil ceremonies for anyone if they won’t for homosexuals. Christians might ban homosexual marriage, so that those willing to perform same-sex marriages cannot do so, but we don’t say, you cannot be a marriage commissioner and perform heterosexual marriages because we know that you would also like to perform same-sex ceremonies. We don’t tell a pro-choice doctor that because we know he’d be willing to perform abortions that we won’t let him be an obstetrician or gynecologist, period. We don’t impose religious litmus tests on people before letting them work in the hospital Emergency Room. We don’t rail against our political opponents, telling them that they have no right to articulate their views and pursue them in legislation and public policy, if they have been honest about their views and have been duly elected by their constituents in a democratic process.

There is something fundamentally civilizing and liberating about Christianity both personally and culturally that I just don’t see with any other worldview, philosophy or religion. We as Christians need to rediscover this confidence in our own worldview and ethical framework. And to be successful, we really need to appreciate the fact that if we are advancing truth, promoting Biblical ethics, then we are not advancing a sectarian agenda that is only good for us, we are not doing this as an act of circling the wagons and trying to provide a little enclave in society where we can survive in a hostile environment; we are advancing ethical norms that are also in the best interests of people who don’t accept them. We are advancing the ethical norms that God wove into the fabric of reality. So our commitment in this area is a commitment of love, a genuine love for God and a genuine love for our brother – and sister.
I would like to close by reminding us again of the words of First John, chapter 3, verses 16-18: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”

3.  Poll Finds Canadians Misinformed About Status of Abortion, Want Alternatives

by Steven Ertelt   LifeNews.com Editor   January 19, 2010

Ottawa, Canada (LifeNews.com) -- Canadians are misinformed about the status of legal abortions but want alternatives to them. Like Americans to the south, who are marking the 37th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortion, Canadians don't fully understand the unlimited nature of abortion.

A new poll by Angus Reid Public Opinion reveals what Yvonne Douma, the director of Signal Hill, a Canadian human rights organization, believes reveals a desperate need for education about abortion.

The Angus Reid survey of 1,002 adult Canadians found not only that a large majority of Canadians believe that provincial governments should provide more information about options to abortion, but also that most Canadians are misinformed about the legal status of abortion.

The poll found that four-in-five Canadians (80%) are unaware of the current legal status of abortion in the country: women being able to have an abortion at any time during their pregnancy, with no legal restrictions whatsoever.

In fact, a significant proportion of respondents (43%) wrongly assume that an abortion can only be performed in the first trimester of pregnancy.

"These findings provide further evidence of a profound disconnect between what the public needs and wants, and what it actually receives," says Douma of her fellow Canadians.

"And while it's a shame that most Canadians do not realize that abortion is legal at all stages in this country - even while the majority believe some restrictions ought to be in place - it's also heartening that a large majority recognize the need for education about alternatives to abortion," she said.

Douma says these findings underscore the importance of Signal Hill's ongoing work to deliver accurate and constructive information so that Canadians can make informed, healthy and life-valuing decisions.

"We believe that all Canadians have a fundamental human right to be fully informed about all aspects of life-critical issues, including abortion," she explains.

Four-in-five Canadians (79%) back an initiative that would make it mandatory for health care workers to offer information to pregnant women about alternatives to abortion. This initiative has the strong support of half of Canadian women across the country.

The poll also found that just one-in-four Canadian women (26%) endorse the current legal status, and two-thirds call for different approaches to regulate abortion in Canada.

"Women and families have a right to know all the options and support available to them when confronted with an unplanned pregnancy" Douma goes on to say. "Unfortunately, this is not happening today. It is Signal Hill's mandate to provide this information with clarity and support."

International News

1.  “England made him”  Article by David Frum on terrorist incubation in Britain

National Post

The underwear bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was born in Nigeria. But his attempted attack on an American airliner is not really a Nigerian story.

Abdulmutallab vanished to Yemen for training before the attack. Still, it's not primarily Yemen we should be worrying about today.

American intelligence did not act on multiple warnings of danger, and Dutch screeners overlooked the explosives on Abdulmutallab's person. Yet even these near-lethal Dutch and American mistakes should not disturb us most.

The most daunting danger exposed by the underwear bombing is a danger that originates among Great Britain's radicalized Muslims.

The shy 18-year-old who arrived in London in Sept. 2005 to study engineering at University College was still very much an unformed personality: religious but also concerned with sports, sex and school, according to the Washington Post's review of some 300 of his Facebook postings.

In a column this week, The New York Times' Tom Friedman imagines the thoughts of young Abdulmutallab's father: "My family system, our village system, broke down. My own son fell under the influence of a jihadist version of Islam that I do not recognize and have reason to fear."

But the village that lost young Abdulmutallab was not some unpaved, grass-thatched Nigerian country town. It was the city of Dr. Johnson and Charles Dickens.

Abdulmutal lab joined University College's Islamic Society and was soon chosen president. The London Times reports that Abdulmutallab "is the fourth president of a London student Islamic society to face terrorist charges in three years. One is facing a retrial on charges that he was involved in the 2006 liquid bomb plot to blow up airliners. Two others have been convicted of terrorist offences since 2007."

As Melanie Phillips and Michael Gove document in their important books Londonistan and Celsius 7/ 7, Britain has incubated a Muslim terror culture. Four British Muslims detonated themselves on the London Metro system on July 7, 2005, killing 56 and wounding about 700. Two British Muslims attempted suicide bombings in Tel Aviv on May 1, 2003, killing three victims.

Polls of British Muslims reveal the most radicalized community in Europe.
About one-sixth of British Muslims look with sympathy on terrorist acts. According to British police, about 3,000 British Muslims passed through Osama bin Laden's Afghan training camps. More than 80% of British Muslims consider themselves Muslims first, British second -- by far the least patriotic score of any European Muslim community. (French Muslims were the most patriotic: 42% considered themselves French first.)

Worse, in Britain's non-Muslims often add their voices to condone and excuse Muslim violence. The ideology of Muslim victimhood is propounded by many of the most respected institutions in British life. Here, for example, is an article posted just last week in The Guardian, arguably Britain's most influential newspaper, on the attempted axe murder of Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard: "Muslims ... saw in [the cartoon] a defamatory and humiliating message: Muslims are terrorists. ... Intentional humiliation is an aggressive act. ... This is the real issue between Denmark and Muslim extremists, not freedom of speech."

This was the environment that Abdulmutallab encountered in Britain. Soon, he was sponsoring talks on jihad-ism at his school, and joining with secular leftists to organize protests against the U.S.-U.K. war on terror. He found his way to Yemen, and to his new cause: mass murder in the name of God.

As a result, U.S. transportation safety officials will now apply more intense screening procedures to citizens of 14 countries, including Nigeria.

But what the Abdulmutallab story tells us is that citizenship is not a very useful indicator of dangerousness. In percentage terms, Nigerian passport holders are probably a lot less likely to be Islamic extremists or terrorist than are British passport holders.

Britain has allowed itself to incubate a danger to the whole planet -- and even now, their corrective action is too hesitant and too partial.

The British need to swiftly deport from their country non-citizen imams who preach extremism and violence. They should monitor mosques closely and maintain detailed databases on their Muslim youth populations. They must do a much better job than they did on Christmas sharing information with friends and allies. (It is troubling that Abdulmutallab obtained a U.S. tourist visa after the British had withdrawn his U.K. visa.)

Above all, we need an end to the kind of radicalism-condoning "sympathy" from British elites. The Blair and Brown governments have too often identified the most radical British Muslims as the most "authentic." Prestige, power and money have been directed to the worst in the community, while the best have been isolated and ignored.

That's no longer just a British problem; it's a threat to the whole world.

2.  Former Sudbury teacher tells of community outreach to the poor in Thailand

In the school I teach at in Thailand, we are on the International Baccalaureate Program (IB for short) and instead of Geography, History, Science - we do "Units of Inquiry".

This next one is about helping underprivileged kids. There sure are lots of them in Bangkok and area. So we have taken the students to 3 underprivileged schools and now my grade 5's (who are from Bangkok elite families - I'm talking millionaires AND  billionaires) are investigating ways to raise funds to help inner city kids, orphans etc. Here are a few web sites to browse.

3.  Top Abortion Provider Cashes in on Haiti Crisis, Pro-Life Medics Respond

By Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D.

(NEW YORK – C-FAM)  Immediately after the earthquake that devastated Haiti last week, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) used the crisis to solicit funds for its family planning clinics in the country. At the same time, a pro-life medical team arrived in Port au Prince to provide emergency medical services and skilled birth attendants. The responses highlight a rising dispute over the current United Nations (UN) program for reducing maternal mortality which puts fertility control first, a program in which Haiti has been a main target but has nonetheless maintained one of the world’s highest rates of maternal death.

Carmen Barroso, regional director for IPPF, the world’s top abortion provider, justified the fund drive for the IPPF affiliate, Profamil, saying “Since 1984, PROFAMIL has worked to improve sexual and reproductive healthcare in Haiti, often providing the only healthcare available in some areas.” Abortion is legal but highly restricted in Haiti. Profamil boasts delivering 600,000 condoms in a single year in 2005 and IPPF awarded the group for keeping up an aggressive contraceptive campaign from 2003-2005 during a period of political and economic instability.

According to IPPF’s last annual report, contraceptive sales are its second highest source of income in the Western hemisphere after patient fees, accounting for more than $25M annually. The World Health Organization (WHO) and UN Population Fund (UNFPA) are among IPPFs top international donors, and the three are part of a UN group called the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health which promotes family planning as the number one way to prevent maternal death.

Pro-life UN experts have expressed grave concern because UN staff have stated that the UN’s “family planning first” approach to maternal health includes abortion, and because it runs counter to the long-standing consensus of the medical community that skilled birth attendants and emergency obstetric care are the best ways to reduce maternal mortality.

A pro-life obstetrical team from Matercare International (MCI) went to Haiti this week to conduct a needs assessment for a long-term operation serving Haitian women. Dr. Robert Walley, director of MCI and leader of the team, told the Friday Fax that they will provide emergency obstetric care to mothers, many of whom have reportedly had to give birth in the streets since the crisis began a week ago. “It almost seems that with these type of tragic circumstances somehow the world believes that life simply stops, so emergency obstetrical care for life threatening complications is not an immediate priority,” an MCI fundraising appeal stated. “The result is an enormous increase in the number of maternal deaths,” it said.

Haiti is the only country in the Western hemisphere that is on the UN’s list of 25 priority countries for maternal health programs, and therefore has received maximum distribution of contraception and reproductive health services. Despite this fact, Haiti has one of the highest rates of maternal deaths in the world, and the highest in the Western hemisphere. Whereas about 11 women die in the United States for every 100,000 live births, about 700 Haitian suffer this fate, a rate more than five times higher than the average for the Latin American and Caribbean region.

4.  Confessions of a former feminist

Marcia Segelstein - OneNewsNow Columnist - 1/26/2010 8:35:00 AM

Feminism, women's liberation, and the idea that men and women are no different from each other have led many of us down dead-end roads -- often away from faith.

Lorraine Murray, in her book, Confessions of an Ex-Feminist (Ignatius Press, 2008), tells the story of her own walk down that road and back, with many illuminating lessons on everything from abortion to the anti-religious bias on college campuses.

5.  German home schoolers granted U.S. political asylum

Associated Press - 1/27/2010 5:50:00 AMPURCELLVILLE, VA- A German couple who fled to Tennessee so they could home school their children has been granted political asylum by an immigration judge in Memphis. (See earlier story)

The decision clears the way for Uwe Romeike his wife and five children to stay in Morristown, Tennessee, where they have been living since 2008.

German law requires children to attend public or private schools, and parents can face fines or prison time if they don't comply. Romeike, an evangelical Christian, said he believes Germany's curriculum is "against Christian values."

6.  The Tragedy of “Bare Branches”

China's economy may be booming, but there's a shortage looming...not enough females.  A new study conducted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences warns that China will have a bride shortage of 24 million by the year 2020 .   To put it in perspective, that's the equivalent of all the males in the metropolitan areas of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth and Atlanta not being able to find a woman to marry.

"Bare branches."   That's how the Chinese refer to these Chinese males who will never have families because they cannot find spouses.   It's an apt metaphor-bare branches-unmarried men who will have nothing attached to them.  There will be no wife, no children.   Researchers offer some insight into the common characteristics of "bare branches":

1.  New Testament books ……….did you know this?????????

And Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass
away, but my words will never pass
away."
            ( Matthew 24:35 *NIV )

Most people naturally assume that the Books of the New
Testament were written in the order that they appear in the Bible.
Now you may be surprised to learn that many of the Letters of the
Apostle Paul were actually written before the Gospels of Matthew,
Mark, Luke & John. For those Gospels were some of the last
books to be written, even though they appear as the first four
Books of The New Testament.

This is because, it is believed, the Apostles of Jesus Christ
were so convinced that He would return during their lifetime, that
they didn't feel the need to write them.  It wasn't until they became
much older that they realized that His return would probably not
occur until after their deaths.  It was then that they wrote them
for the generations of the future.

So today we will take a look at the actual year that each Book
of the New Testament was written!

2.  To Save a Life

Dear Prayer Partners,

Our teens are constantly be inundated with negative messages so I am thrilled to share with you the title of a new movie To Save A Life. (http://www.tosavealifemovie.com/index.php)

It is the story of a teen boy who was too cool to hang around with his past best friend. The loneliness resulted in the death of the friend. He felt so guilty that he completely changed and began befriending uncool classmates. The story is touching and inspiring to our teens to look beyond someone elses idea of who fits in and who is shunned.

Please, pray then write or call all the theatres in our area to ask when this is coming. At this point, I cannot find even one that is showing it. Request it at Block Buster every time you go in.

For Life,

2.  Member of ACES Leadership Team requests help with setting up home office

Dear ACES Friends,

I need to set up my office properly, which will be a great help in getting some work done for ACES website.

Does anyone have a spare 2-drawer filing cabinet?  It does not have to be pretty, just free of mold or mildew.

Also, could someone loan me a paper shredder?

Thanks, team.

3.  Reid My Lips

Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and tried to light it?
Did you know his trial is over?
Did you know he was sentenced?
Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?
Didn't think so.!!!
Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.
Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.
Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say.  His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted his 'allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah,' defiantly stating, 'I think I will not apologize for my actions,' and told the court 'I am at war with your country.'
Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:
January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid.

Fundraising Requests

1.  THE FRIDAY FAX WILL BE AT EACH OF AND EVERY ONE OF THESE MEETINGS.

As innocuous as some of these meetings may sound, each of them is a battleground in the war between the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death:

January 25– February 3
UN NGO Committee (this is the group of countries that approves or disapproves groups for official UN status and where radical groups sneak into the UN).

February 3 – February 12
UN Commission for Social Development, a meeting of 54 UN Member States that feeds documents into the General Assembly.

March 1 – March 12
UN Commission on the Status of Women, a meeting that will see upwards of 2,000 radical feminist lobbyists braying for a right to abortion. This will also be the “celebration” of the Beijing Women’s Conference.  This will be dynamite.

March 8 – March 26
UN Human Rights Committee, the treaty monitoring body for the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. This is the largely unknown committee that will hassle governments to change their laws on abortion. We watch and report!

April 12 – April 16
UN Commission on Population and Development, the body that will promote population control and a right to abortion.

May 3 – May 14
UN Commission on Sustainable Development, a meeting of UN member states that will promote radical environmentalism, population control and a right to abortion.

May 26 – June 4
UN NGO Committee, yet another meeting to approve radical groups coming into the UN.

July 12 – July 30
Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, this is a treaty monitoring body that has told 90 countries to change their laws on abortion.

I would bet dollars to donuts that most folks, even most pro-lifers, have never even heard of these meetings let alone have attended any.

THE FRIDAY FAX WILL BE AT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE MEETINGS. It is likely we will be the only pro-lifers present at many of them.

This is what the Friday Fax brings to the international pro-life movement. We are there. And we report. We are fearless. We do not want to go to their cocktail parties. We do not seek their approval. We are there to blow the lid off of their agenda! That’s it.

Can you see the frightening implications of this series of meetings?

Can you see the importance of the Friday Fax?

Can you see the importance of supporting our work?

Can you see your way clear FIRST, TO PRAY FOR OUR PROTECTION AND OUR SUCCESS?

Daily Chuckle
1.  A star in the east

A woman takes her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor.
The doctor  Says, "Okay, Mrs. Jones, what's the problem?"

The mother says, "It's my daughter, Debbie. She keeps getting these cravings, she's putting On weight, and is sick most mornings."
The doctor gives Debbie a good examination, then turns to the mother and says, "Well, I Don't know how to tell you this, but your Debbie is pregnant - About 4 months, would be my guess."

The mother says, "Pregnant?! She can't be, she has never ever been left alone with a man!  Have you Debbie?"
Debbie says, "No mother! I've never even kissed a man, I'm still a virgin!"

The doctor walked over to the window and just stood there staring out of It.
About five minutes pass and finally the mother says, "Is there something wrong out there doctor?"
The doctor replies, "No, not really, it's just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared
In the east and three wise men came over the hill. And there's no way I'm Going to miss it this time!!!

2.  Church Humor

The Picnic
A Jewish Rabbi and a Catholic Priest met at the town's annual 4th of July picnic. Old friends, they began their usual banter.
"This baked ham is really delicious," the priest teased the rabbi. "You really ought to try it. I know it's against your religion, but I can't understand why such a wonderful food should be forbidden! You don't know what you're missing. You just haven't lived until you've tried Mrs. Hall's prized Virginia Baked Ham. Tell me, Rabbi, when are you going to break down and try it?"
The rabbi looked at the priest with a big grin, and said, "At your wedding.."

The Usher
An elderly woman walked into the local country church. The friendly usher greeted her at the door and helped her up the flight of steps,  "Where would you like to sit?" he asked politely.
"The front row please," she answered.
"You really don't want to do that," the usher said "The pastor is really boring."
"Do you happen to know who I am?" the woman inquired.
          "No." he said..
"I'm the pastor's mother," she replied indignantly.
"Do you know who I am?" he asked.
          "No." she said.
          "Good," he answered.

Show and Tell
A kindergarten teacher gave her class a "show and tell" assignment. Each student was instructed to bring in an object to share with the class that represented their religion.
The first student got up in front of the class and said, "My name is Benjamin and I am Jewish and this is a Star of David."
The second student got up in front of the class and said, "My name is Mary. I'm a Catholic and this is a Rosary."
The third student got in up front of the class and said, "My name is Tommy. I am Baptist, and this is a casserole."

The Best Way To Pray
A priest, a minister and a guru sat discussing the best positions for prayer, while a telephone repairman worked nearby.
"Kneeling is definitely the best way to pray," the priest said.
"No," said the minister.  "I get the best results standing with my hands outstretched to Heaven."
"You're both wrong," the guru said.  "The most effective prayer position is lying down on the floor."
The repairman could contain himself no longer.
"Hey, fellas," he interrupted.  "The best prayin' I ever did was when I was hangin' upside down from a telephone pole."

Goat for Dinner
The young couple invited their elderly pastor for Sunday dinner. While they were in the kitchen preparing the meal, the minister asked their son what they were having.
          "Goat," the little boy replied.
"Goat?" replied the startled man of the cloth, "Are you sure about that?"
          "Yep," said the youngster
"I heard Dad say to Mom, 'Today is just as good as any to have that old goat for dinner."

Lord, keep Your arm around my shoulder and Your hand over my mouth.

3.  Mo’s Hearing

Mo attends to a revival and listens to the sermon. After a while, the pastor asks anyone with needs to come forward and be prayed over. Mo gets in line and, when it’s his turn the pastor asks, “Mo, what do you want me to pray about?” Mo says, “Pastor, I need you to pray for my hearing.” So the pastor puts one finger in Mo’s ear and the other hand on top of his head and prays for a while. He removes his hands and says, “Mo how’s your hearing now?” Mo says, “I don’t know pastor, it’s not until next Monday.

Words of Wisdom
1.  Cell phone vs Bible

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat
our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several time a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we f orgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing..
Unlike our cell  phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being
disconnected because  Jesus already paid the  bill.

Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!

P.S.  DO WHAT YOU THINK GOD WOULD WANT YOU TO DO WITH THIS EMAIL

2.  Equipping: The Leader's Responsibility

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

Equipping is a tough job, much harder than shepherding. The leader is to equip others for ministry. Paul explains the goal for the shepherd. If leaders wish to equip their people, they must give them certain gifts:

•           I must CARE for them (Communication, Affirmation, Recognition, and Example).
•           I must work on their weaknesses, but work out their strengths.
•           I must give them myself (time, energy, and focus).
•           I must give them ownership of the ministry.
•           I must become a resource person (atmosphere, training, support, tools).
•           I must make expectations clear...
•           I must eliminate unnecessary burdens.
•           I must catch them doing something good, then reward them for it.

The Maxwell Leadership Bible

God knows I'm not perfect, just that I Love Him.
" Good Day and God Bless "

I remain as the sinner servant of God!!! All glory is offered to God for the conversion that all may truly live as children of God witnessing humbly to God in the power of the Resurrection of Christ.
