AUDIO SESSION
3 Basic Setups - 9 to 10:00 am - Gym
• Building blocks of sound equipment – assemble a basic system for small room.
• Medium room – as above, more power, musical instruments and vocals, monitor.
• Large room or hall – Board, amplifier, multiple monitors, sub woofers, more channels to handle all possible audio needs.
10:00 to 10:30am - Transfer down stairs for small room setup and example
COFFEE BREAK – 10:30 to 10:45 – Gym
Cables and Connectors - 10:45
• Different types and what they do
Singers, speakers, instruments, iPods, how to set them up - 11:00 am
• Slides and examples – DI and their uses
Microphones - 11:15am
• Wired, wireless, their uses and abuses.
Achieving the best sound in your room & Basic Mixing - 11:30am to 12:30pm
LUNCH 12:30 to 1PM
VIDEO SESSION
The Video Challenge – 1 to 2pm
• Why Video?
• Block overview of a video setup. Start at the projector and build back. 3 examples (small, medium, complex)
• Terms you need to know – Svideo, VGA, HDMI, HD, DVI, Composite, Component, Firewire. Formats to know include NTSC, 4:3, 16:9, HD and SD,
Projectors and Screens – 2 to 2:30pm
• Basics of a projector – keystone, bulbs (reset the counter), input, control
• Projectors for small, medium, and large rooms. Lenses, short & long throw. Reading a spec. sheet and calculating distance spread.
• Screens (roll up, Daylite, rear projection, painted)
COFFEE Break 2:30 to 2:45
Presentation Software – 2:45 to 3:15pm
• Powerpoint, Song Show Plus, Pro Presenter (on the Mac)
• Respecting Copyright
Recording your Event and Streaming to the Internet – 3:15 to 4:00pm
• JUSTIN TV. Free of charge. Integrates with the web site.
Best Practices for developing and presenting media – 4 to 4:30pm
• Colour advice.
• Lighting levels, dimmers and power requirements, and noise. (drag out the dimmer)
• Design advice (font size, etc.)
• Theory behind presentation.
